Mozilla Firefox 3.6.4, beschermt tegen crash door plug-in

De Mozilla Foundation heeft een nieuwe versie van zijn webbrowser Firefox uitgebracht. Versie 3.6 van Firefox is gebaseerd op Gecko-versie 1.9.2, die sinds begin 2009 in ontwikkeling is. Ook nieuw in versie 3.6 is de mogelijkheid om het uiterlijk van de browser aan te passen, wat bij Mozilla Persona’s wordt genoemd. Daarnaast kunnen oude en onveilige plug-ins worden geblokkeerd, kunnen Theora-video’s full-screen worden bekeken en is de performance verder verbeterd. De belangrijkste verbetering in versie 3.6.4 is dat als Flash-, Quicktime- of Silverlight-plug-ins vastlopen, de browser gewoon beschikbaar blijft. Daarnaast zijn natuurlijk ook weer de stabiliteit en veiligheid verbeterd.

What’s New in Firefox 3.6.4

Firefox 3.6.4 provides uninterrupted browsing for Windows and Linux users when there is a crash in the Adobe Flash, Apple Quicktime or Microsoft Silverlight plugins.

If a plugin crashes or freezes, it will not affect the rest of Firefox. You will be able to reload the page to restart the plugin and try again.

Firefox 3.6.4 also fixes the following issues found in previous versions of Firefox 3.6:

• Fixed several security issues.
• Fixed several stability issues.
